Folding Panel Displays
Folding Panel Displays are the tried and true system for
simple elegant trade show exhibit presentations. Folding
panel displays provide a middle ground between the large
custom fabricated exhibit and the lightweight popup exhibit.
Most folding panel displays are made of the same materials. By
using high density corrugated sandwiched between a moisture
barrier and providing a hinge system, folding panel displays
create about the simplest exhibit solution known.
Folding panel displays were an outgrowth of the custom
exhibit builders who found that they frequently were building
similar sized panels for all of their custom display sales.
By simply hinging these panels together and waiting to cover
them until an order specified a substrate, folding panel
displays were born. Exhibit builders decided to pre-build
these similar sized panels during the slack times so that when
the busy time came they could output more custom exhibits
because the surfaces were pre-built. The result was more and
more pre-built surfaces of varying sizes were being built and
a whole new marketing solution was created. By simply hinging
these surfaces together and waiting to cover them until an
order specified a substrate, folding panel displays were born.
Folding panel displays usually seems to work better for the
product oriented display because of its capability to be load
bearing for shelves and counter tops. It also has the
capability to better implement the use of alcove counters
built in to the back wall and backlit headers, light boxes and
the capability of being reversible. Because the exhibits are
folding panel displays with velcro compatible material on both
sides different colors can be selected for the back and the
exhibits reversed to give you a different look with the same
investment at next year's show. The disadvantage of a folding
panel display is that it is usually packed in larger shipping
containers, is heavier and is not as easily used for large
format photomural type graphics. Because of its weight it may
be harder for smaller individuals to set up because of the
weight and the fact that the top section must be lifted up and
set in alignment pins on the bottom section. Of all the panel
displays available to the consumer our panel system has proven
over the years to be the easiest to use and most cost
effective solution for the consumer who needs a folding panel
unit.
Some suggestions to keep in mind regard these systems. UPS
has dictated the surface sizes in most cases. Because of UPS
shipping size restrictions most of these individual surfaces
are not much wider than 25" and not much longer than 45".
Because of this and the fact that in order for the booth to
remain stable when set up it need a base about 1/3 the width
of the height, it is hard to build a 10x10 foot show space
with smooth uninterrupted surfaces for large format graphics.
It is suggested that if large format graphics are your goal
that you consider a popup exhibit rather than this type of
system.
Freight charges for these types of systems are going to be
greater than the lightweight popup units or products such as
the Big Fabric Graphic System. Generally UPS ground charges
are in the range of $45 - $125 depending on the amount of
accessories in each case which affects the weight, and the
distance to which you would be shipping the products. We also
recommend that in the case where you need to ship other
products to your show that you use other
shipping cases and
trade show cases so as not to damage the
trade show display panels. In most cases unlike the popup
exhibit units which can be hand carried into a show, show
restrictions are going to cause you to pre-ship and have your
booth put in storage. Drayage will then be required at the
show to bring your exhibit to the floor space you have rented.
